Hi everyone! Like a lot of you, I’m currently stuck at home. Travel plans have been canceled, and stay-at-home orders make it difficult right now to get out and do some photography. Well, this is a perfect time to start digging through the “digital dumpster,” which is what I like to call my collection of raw files from years and years of photography. I bet that most of you, like me, don’t process the majority of your photos, and instead you only process the ones that you think are actually good. But I’m also guessing that if you were to start digging around in your digital dumpster, you’d find a bunch of really good photos that you had previously overlooked. In fact, some of them might even be great!
That's why I'm launching the Digital Dumpster Challenge here on Shuttermonkeys. I encourage everyone who is now stuck at home to take a dive into their unprocessed raw files. There might be good reasons for not processing most of these files, but every now and then, you will stumble across the proverbial diamond in the rough. So, dive right in, and share your best results here in the Monkey Lounge! If you would also like to submit your photos for my Photo Critique videos, then make sure to select the "Critique Sessions" category; otherwise, just choose whichever category best fits your photo.
Just make sure to add #digitaldumpsterchallenge to the description of your photo. The Challenge will run until April 19, 2020. I'll be picking my favorite images to be featured in my next video!
If you are not already registered for this site, then you will need to create a free account to post photos (it's super easy). You can find instructions for posting photos in the video below. I can't wait to see what you pull out of the digital dumpster!
