Two years ago I visited Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, This lighthouse is at Au Sable Point about 12 miles west of Grand Marais, Michigan. It dates from 1874. There's also a brick oil building and a fog signal dating from the 1890s. The three structures along with the tower and keepers' quarters, make up the light station.
It 's impossible to get the classic "standing guard at the water's edge" shot at Au Sable. I opted for a shot looking along the sidewalk to the keepers' quarters and lighthouse.
