Two years ago I visited Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, This lighthouse is at Au Sable Point about 12 miles west of Grand Marais, Michigan. It dates from 1874. There's also a brick oil building and a fog signal dating from the 1890s. The three structures along with the tower and keepers' quarters, make up the light station . It 's impossible to get the classic "standing guard at the water's edge" shot at Au Sable. I opted for a shot looking along the sidewalk to the keepers' quarters and lighthouse.
