Yes our dogs have no hair. Saw her laying down like this and liked the sun behind her. This is cropped a bit. i figured, ah, why not share?

What a sweet dog. She deserves a real portrait without the kitchen chairs. LOL. Backlighting is tricky. It creates a wonderful halo on the animal's fur but leaves its face in darkness. Try using a flash on VERY LOW power so you don't wash out her face but just give a tad of light to her pretty eyes. I'd also use a longer lens, like maybe 85mm, so its just the dog and not the kitchen, although your kitchen looks very pretty.
Haha yeah she's special (and knows it 🙄). I think I was trying to go for 'telling a story' by including the chairs and backdoor, but you're right a flash would've probably helped a lot. I forget if I even have one that works anymore haha (I upgraded camera, sold my old one to a friend, not sure the flash I had works on this, it was a cheapo one). If she poses for me again maybe I'll get another shot of her!
I can't comment on the technical aspects of your image but I love the feeling it evokes. It gives me a warm, contented, peaceful feeling. That must be "her" rug:)
Thanks Jean! Yeah it's her rug in a way, but that's because she probably thinks she owns the house...Just kidding. We don't spoil our dogs or anything... 😉
