President George Washington's home is Mount Vernon, it is on the banks of the Potomac River. The view from his home is shore of Maryland, it is a National Park called Piscataway Park, so the view from his home will forever remain the same. Directly across the river is the National Colonial Park a 17th Century working farm and part of the Piscataway Park, that I use to be a 17th Century volunteer farm hand (long story) they have a fishing pier that these Osprey nest at each year. this pic was taken three years ago, the same nesting couple of Osprey are there every year.
As a volunteer for the park, I took a ton of pics for them, (okay it was a good learning experience) but they used this one for several promotions.
The house on the hill in the background is the back side of George Washington's Mount Vernon home

Talk about a wonderful foreground and background —just love the entire composition.
What a great shot. You have the osprey with a clean background and sharp focus and the wonderful historic landmark as a background but blurred so as not to distract from the bird.
Great shot! Impressive on many levels..... from balance to color to clarity. On a side note, I lived on Long Island for 56 years and ospreys abounded. I would visit many osprey nests each year, both while photographing and flyfishing. Never once did I see a nest like this that afforded such a great angle of view....... what a blessing:-)
