As fall is coming to the mid-Atlantic area, I wanted to get out into the woods to just scope things out. The other evening about an hour before sunset I was able to catch the sun coming through the woods. The fall colors will be better in my area late Oct to early Nov.

I like your wideangle capture – and can feel your feelings when strolling through this autumn wood. You're proofing that a real photographer doesn't need that silly sunray-tool by Luminar... May I add some proposal? Go much closer to the leafs in the righthand foreground and make them dominant in your picture. Maybe you can even show one leaf touched by the sunrays as the "star" in this beautiful scenery. Or did you already – and are keeping that capture as your top card in the upcoming discussion here? However: My congrats, Buddy!
Thanks, actually no I didn't even think of that! Great advice, I was just walking back to my truck and the sun captured my eye, I just sat the tripod down and adjusted for sun, as I wasn't expecting to get any "post" worthy photos, and the park closes at dusk
Nice scouting Buddy, I agree with Chris, maybe try that. And maybe emphasize the contrast between the areas lit by sun and those in shadow more, or try it anyway. And only other thought I had is if you wanna emphasize the sunstar more use a smaller aperture like f/11 or f/16 (as long as diffraction doesn't become an issue). If it's that nice at f/7.1 it should be pretty good at a small aperture.
Dark to light, cool to warm and sharp to diffused; nice flow! The sun star is a nice touch. Keep working this approach. I agree with the smaller aperture for a better sun star. And try different camera heights.
thanks, yes, I plan to use a smaller aperture!!
