An incredible moment in the Canadian Rockies when lenticular clouds - colored with the bright yellows, pinks, and purples of sunset - formed over a frozen alpine lake. This happened just a few days after Ian ended his visited. Sorry Ian! Canon 5DIV, Canon 11-24mm f/4 lens, ISO 50, f/11, 1/4 second.

PS all colors are natural!
Zac, what a gorgeous photo. It has a surreal feeling. How close was your camera to the foreground, and what lens were you using, aperture, etc? I sometimes feel that I can't get my foreground and background sharp at the same time if I'm in close to the foreground, and it would be nice to hear what others are doing!
Oops. Reading fail. I see your camera and lens info. Anyway, how close to the nearest foreground was your camera?
Thanks so much! I shot this at 11mm so I was very close and focused just a bit past the nearest foreground. Getting everything sharp is a challenge! Ian has an entire module on corner to corner sharpness (which he calls Deep Focus) in the Ultimate Landscape Course, which we will be releasing soon!
What better place to use that lens, what better lens to grab that scene! That mono tone foreground against those clouds is just awesome !
Thanks so much!
This is such a beautiful image. I love that low POV, I feel like I am right there
Thanks!
