Late in the evening in early July the low-angle light on this site, at mile post 103 of the Old Denali Highway, overlooking a small lake in Monahan Flat, made the taiga glow vibrantly as well as cast a warm glow onto the undersurface of the clouds overhead. In the background the base of Mt. Hunter, the third highest peak in the Alaska Range, is seen in the cleft between Reindeer Hills and Pyramid Peak.
