Sometimes a telephoto lens works well to zero in on features in a wide grandiose landscape. The mineral deposits are more pronounced when wet, the reddish color is from iron, the yellow from aluminum and the black manganese.

C&C Welcome

Beautiful Zeph! Was this taken in Peru?

Thanks Zac. This place, the Painted Hills, is part of the John Day area, a few mile NW of Mitchell Oregon

This is so beautiful! (It's actually quite calming, too, with the smooth lines and colors)
