Hi everyone, here's a photo I took awhile back in the Badlands of South Dakota. I made this photo in the early morning twilight, about 25 minutes before actual sunrise. The light is coming from the clouds above the horizon where the sun was rising, reflected down onto the landscape. Canon R, 11-24mm lens, ISO 400, f/11, 3o seconds.

Nice one, I like the water that's reflecting some light back from the cracked mud, or I'm assuming that's what it is. How do you like the Canon R? The RP was my step into full frame so I'm loving that.
The R is taking some getting used to, but I have grown to like it very much. My favorite thing about it is its EF lens adapter with a drop in filter slot. Now I can easily use a polarizer and variable ND with my ultra-wide lenses, like the Canon 11-24 or Tamron 15-30.
Awesome... So that adapter is worth the price then I take it? I'm not sure if I wanna save up for the control ring, drop in filter adapter, or the RF 70-200 (yeah right). Did you use the ND filter on this particular shot? I see it's 30 seconds.
@Jeremey Voit If you want to easily use filters on your ultra-wide EF lenses, then the adapter is worth the price (although the adapter and a few filters costs a lot of $$$). I didn't use the variable ND for this photo, it was shot in the early morning twilight when it was still quite dark (albeit colorfully dark).
quite stunning , I love the colors, the textures, and how the; lines and shapes of foreground mirror and compliment. I see that is so effective to bring the eye in that you find often . you are skilled at that, I have been toying with selling my nikon z7, as I never like it as much as my D850tat I sold to buy the z7, I never liked the autofocus even with firmware update was sluggish, and other issues that annoyed me, I have sold most of my Nikon F glass, and have 2 nikon Z lenses left, I invested in the sony A7R4, which I do love , but as we know the menu is cumbersome, but the truth is once the camera asset up , I do not need to mess with it, but the files are huge. But overall all I love it more than the Z7, Nikon these days is taking a very conservative approach and will one day catch up, the question is when, , so I am thinking of selling the z7 and the last of my Nikon glass, and trade for Canon R5, as the flippy screen seems attractive especially when shooting in weird positions which happens often, and the auto focus is s stellar and the ergonomics of the body seem as Canon always is in the hand as I had Canon when I first started years ago, I will wait to hear more in field reviews , , The video setting on fire would not bother me, not that I want a fire, but I rarely shoot video, Do you gave thoughts to share abut R5.
I don't have any experience with the R5 yet, but it looks like an amazing camera. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
@Ian Plant Rumour has it that it's the perfect winter camera - no gloves needed 😉
Like an approaching symphonic coda -
A beautiful scene artfully captured and tastefully processed. Bravo!
Thanks Chuck!
Surreal; what an awesome picture. Truly painting with light. Draws my eye right to the "promised land" every time; feel like I'm on the road to OZ.
