Our local park on the Hudson River is quaint and nice, but rather pedestrian in terms of wow factor. This tree is the exception, twisting up from the earth like a mythic image from Tolkien's imagination. The composition possibilities are numerous, but for this shot I chose to go in a little tighter. I chose to lead with the main root, drawing the viewer in and up its twisted frame as the setting sun and light bloom pull the viewer in through the tangled mess and into the beyond.
