Here's a shot from Caledon state park yesterday. I don't consider myself to be very good at woodland photography, and so it's something I'd like to improve upon, so any tips would be welcome! And yes, those sunbeams are real! Haha

First of all, what a lovely shot. The warm light exudes the image and gives it a definite mood. The only tip/advice I could give would be to try to stop down to f/16 or f/22 and try to create a sun-star rather than just a bright glow. Normally, in the woods, I try to bracket shots because of the light and dark interplay, but this is nicely exposed too. Well done!
Thanks Jeff, I'll have to keep that in mind. I do love a good sunstar!
I love this shot. The wonderful sunbeams warm the photo and create a soft glow on the tree in the foreground. Shooting in a forest is hard because of the high contrast. You have captured this scene beautifully.
Thanks Frances. Yeah I like the shot too I just am unsure about the composition, that's what I find hardest with woodlands. It's just so chaotic, especially here in the mid Atlantic where it's mostly weeds and poisonous plants sometimes lol. Just thankful places like this are still open amidst this virus.
@Jeremey Voit I love the composition. It's well balanced and the two big trees in the foreground frame the sunbeams. You have tamed the chaos!
Beautiful warm light and fantastic atmosphere!
