Made an attempt to capture the Perseid meteor shower. Not a great success. I set up the camera on a tripod with an intervalometer so it would take photos continuously and went to sleep. We were up at our son's cabin in the Catskills. There was distant lightning and then clouds rolled in and it poured. Fortunately our son was awake and pulled in the camera before it was totally drowned.

Very nice! Don't know what technique you used, however, if you stacked shots, you might try either rotating the meteors not coming from the Perseid constellation or omitting them. That way meteors will all appear to be coming from Perseid. Glad someone had clear skies! Nicely done...Bruce
I'm not sure which to rotate. Should it be any not coming from the upper right?
Just a suggestion, but the two in the left third of the frame, the bottom right one that almost intersects another comet coming from the direction you want. Please, please know this is an artistic decision. There is nothing wrong with your image the way it is. My personal taste finds the composition more dynamic if all of the comets emanate from the same direction like the majority of your comets do. Have a look at this video. https://www.nationalparksatnight.com/blog/2020/4/25/great-balls-of-fire-part-3-how-to-process-a-meteor-shower-radiant
Thank you. That's a great site. I do recall this technique. It was in a PhotoPills video. I would do it if the photo was worth the extra time but it doesn't have a good foreground and I used too short a shutter speed which cut off some meteor tails. Hope I can do better next time there is a good meteor shower. It is hard to find a site that is dark, has an unobstructed horizon and an interesting foreground. I envy people who can get to a national park or live near dunes, mountains, or great coastlines. I need to do more scouting for these kind of sites within a rational driving distance. The sky for this shot was only clear for a couple of hours. Then it clouded over and rained. There was also a lot of lightning, not bolts but the kind that lights up the horizon.
You captured a lot of Perseids! And the story is great about not soaking your camera. You did well!
Thank you. Hope to do better next time if I can find a better foreground and a dark place. Hard here in Connecticut unless I go quite a distance but a lot of parks and beaches are either closed or residents only right now.
