Argentina's Puna is a high desert region in the northwest of the county. It lies across the border from Chile's Atacama Desert. The Puna contains some of the most beautiful desert scenery in the world. I'll be returning there soon, visiting the Puna before driving several hundred miles south to photograph the total solar eclipse on July 2. This shot is from an area that is covered in giant pumice stone monoliths, some as high as forty or fifty feet. Truly an amazing place to watch the stars come out! Canon 5DIII, Canon 11-24mm f/4 lens.
