I knew as soon as I clicked the shutter that I would like this image. I chose to process it in B&W because I have a difficult time getting the colors to look right when the photo is taken at first light in the morning. Besides, zebras are black and white ;) This was taken at Madikwe Game Reserve, South Africa. -- Critiques welcomed.

Hi Nancy! So glad you could join us. We're just starting out, so I expect it might take awhile to get the conversation rolling here. But this is an excellent study in texture. I love how the rippled water basically takes the texture of the zebras and multiplies it. The fourth zebra looking up provides a great break in the pattern formed by the first three zebras, drawing the viewer's eye and helping to tell a story. Nicely done!
Thank you Ian ... I agree that the 4th zebra really adds a lot to the composition. I was so excited when he looked toward me!
Oh, and please spread the word about us to your photo friends! We're hoping to grow this into a vibrant community for photo sharing, networking, and fun!
Will do. That's why I jumped right on to see how it works and to be able to talk about it with confidence. The site looks great ... well done.
Great, thanks!!! We spent a lot of time developing this, but we really didn't know how well it was going to work when people started using the site. I'm still holding my breath hoping everything goes well!
Terrific image Nancy
The reflected stripes, as modulated by the little interfering ripples in the water, give a rich network of fine zig-zags, which never loses its fidelity to the original stripes. Beautifully done, Nancy!
