I've been to photograph polar bears in the Arctic several times over the past few years, and this is probably my favorite photo I have made. I shot this in a horrible blizzard as two large cubs brawled with each other for what seemed like hours. I could barely focus through the storm, let alone even see what was going on! But I love how the blowing snow creates an abstract high-key effect, with the bears barely emerging from the surrounding white. It was a miserable and cold photo shoot, and one of the best memories of my career! Canon 70D, Canon 200-400mm f/4 lens with built-in 1.4x extender, ISO 2500, f/6.3, 1/1000 second.
